Aloney HaBashan
Welcome to Aloney HaBashan – the eastern most location/venue/spot/place in Israel!
Aloney HaBashan is a religious cooperative village established in the Golan Heights in 1981 by an idealistic core-group from the Bnei Akiva movement. Its name, meaning “Oaks of Bashan”, is taken from the book of Isaiah 2:13: “And upon all the cedars of Lebanon that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan”.
The village is situated at the outskirts of the Bashanit Mountain Range in the southern part of the Golan Heights, at an altitude of 980 meters above sea level. Thanks to its height visitors enjoy cool weather throughout the summer, while in winter you can look forward to an enchanted snow-covered experience!
The high winds that blow in Aloney HaBashan turn the visit into an extraordinary spiritual [also meaning “wind-filled” in Hebrew] experience. We highly recommend a visit to the Garden of Sound and Wind and the famed wind turbine farm nearby. Aloney HaBashan borders on the large Bashanit Forest nature reserve; Mount Hermon stands to the north, and Hamat Gader to the south. Aloney HaBashan Holiday Resort is a wonderful base for going out on nature hikes and motorized trip to the various attractions in the area, including the Aniam Artist Village, Hamat Gader hot springs, Golan Heights Winery, the Sea of Galilee, Zavitan River Reserve, Yehudiyah, Gamla, and an array of fun activities such as horseback riding, jeep tours and many more.
